Demeter Wines “Made in France” at Prowein 2017!

IMG_8050For the second year in a row, Demeter will take centre stage at the organic section of the Prowein trade fair in Düsseldorf from the 19th to 21st of March 2017. In association with Ecovin and Bioland, Demeter proposes a refined atmosphere, a warm welcome and organic food to accompany the wines featured in the organic wine section.

The novelty for 2017: Demeter France will team up with Demeter Germany to promote French winemakers; half the winemakers at the Demeter stand will come from France. Alsace, Champagne, Bordeaux, Languedoc-Roussillon, the Loire Valley, Provence, the Rhône Valley: Demeter proposes a wine-tasting tour of the main winegrowing regions of France with 14 winemakers who are passionate about their terroirs!

A special tasting zone will allow visitors to discover wines from other Demeter-certified French winegrowing domains which may or may not be represented at the trade fair.

Finally, Romana Echensperger (Master of Wine) will organise thematic activities to showcase Demeter wines.

Biodynamics revitalizing the terroir!

French wines derived from exceptionally rich and diverse terroirs enjoy an excellent reputation internationally. However, over the past few decades they have suffered from a process of extreme standardisation. The rapid development of Biodynamics in the world of French winemaking has brought a breath of fresh air to the world of wine; its techniques as well as its highly original approach to nature allow the wine to express the unique characteristics of its terroir which distinguish it from all other wines.

Demeter wines

As the leading international trademark for the certification of biodynamic agriculture since 1932, Demeter guarantees the quality of Biodynamic farming methods throughout the entire winemaking domain. Demeter wines are produced according to the strictest of quality standards; this applies to both the winegrowing and the wine producing processes.

For instance, the Demeter quality standards limit the quantity of copper that may be added to the vineyards to half of that permitted by the European quality standards for winemaking. They also authorise fewer oenological inputs and significantly smaller quantities of sulphites.

Demeter wines express the perfectly balanced and individual character of their terroir. Their intense, complex aromas are enhanced by mineral notes which evoke their link to the earth.
